Last look at Bay of Islands - the sand on the east coast of the North Is is white/golden - on the west coast it's black - cool eh?
Golf course in the foreground - playing golf is very cheap here - about $20 - $30 a round on the public links - sometimes less.

Nah! I am just an enthusiastic amateur! It was traditional in NZ to feel like we were just a little blip at the bottom of the world. But lately we are getting a sense of pride in ourselves - no more cultural cringe! We've grown up I guess. Took 160 years but we did it! Yay!

I've looked through all your blogs since finding them a few days ago as New Zealand is the one place that I've always wanted to visit. That's unlikely as I don't like travelling, especially flying, as well as the perennial problem of never having had the time or money to do so!

Flying is a very boring acivity isn't it! Ironic name then - Mr Flighty? :-) You could always come by ship - something I've always fancied but never tried. NZ thanks you for the compliment of being the place you'd like to see - much appreciated!

It is indeed. A very ironic name as I'm a lifelong aviation enthusiast! My blogs elsewhere are FlightBuff and Flighty. A voyage round the world by ship with a couple months stopover in NZ would suit me fine. One can always dream.
